The Costumes
Urbanitas owns two costumes: a “work one”, which is very simple, comfortable, and not so detailed, and a wedding dress, worn by peasants on their wedding day.
The costumes are made of valuable and expensive fabrics, that are hand-woven on wooden looms and enriched with crochet laces. The realization of new customs is very accurate and faithful to the techniques of the rural and ancient traditions of Marche. Some of the customs currently worn by dancers and musicians are the authentic and original clothing from a hundred years ago, meticulously guarded and passed down through generations until today. The most representative element of the male costume is the so-called “fascia”, which can be up to three meters long, and it is entirely handmade crochet with many elegant embroideries. On the other hand, the most iconic element of the female costume is a particular headdress, commonly named “littello”. It is made of cotton, and, in the past, it was the best towel received in dowry by the bride.
